About Darwin Airline
Adria Airways Switzerland, previously known as Etihad Regional, was a regional carrier operating from its hub at Geneva Airport. Established in 2003 as Darwin Airline, the airline operated serves secondary cities in Europe utilising a fleet of Saab 2000 and ATR72-500 aircraft. The airline was rebranded as Adria Airways in Sep-2017, in accordance with the transfer agreement between Etihad, Adria Airways and Darwin Airlines. Adria Airways Switzerland was headquartered in Lugano.
In Nov-2017, Darwin Airline filed for insolvency but will continue to operate under the existing AOC. It planned to transition into ACMI operations, offering maintenance for its own aircraft and third parties. However, Switzerland's OCST union announced Adria Airways Switzerland (Darwin Airline) lifted its insolvency "moratorium" and filed for bankruptcy in Dec-2017. Its operating licence was revoked on 28-Nov-2017.
