About Air Changan
Chang’an Airlines Co. Ltd., operating as Air Changan, was established in 1993 by Shaanxi Province Government. It operated services to regional destinations from Xi'an, using Xian Y-7 aircraft. The carrier was acquired by HNA in 2000, and merged with Shanxi Airlines and China Xinhua Airlines to form Grand China Air, a subsidiary of Hainan Airlines. Since 27-Oct-2002, Xinhua Airlines, Chang’an Airlines and Shanxi Airlines all operated under the Hainan Airlines’ “HU” code, operating certificate as well as the Hainan Airlines branded fleet. Aircraft continue to operate under the Chang’an Airlines brand. HNA Group relaunched Chang’an Airlines as an independent carrier after it received a separate AOC in Apr-2016. The carrier, under the Air Changan brand, recommenced independent services on 09-May-2016, operating Xian-Zhuhai service with Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
